This book is dedicated to three outstanding professors from the University of Illinois:

John Quincy Howe, the famous journalist that taught us how to un- derstand what is going on in the world.

Charles Sandage the father of American advertising education who challenged us to bring truth to advertising.

And Leah Trelease, a legendary professor that helped us understand life through literature. Here is the last stanza of a poem Professor Trelease made us memorize that has guided my business career.

Thanatopsis

So live, that when thy summons comes to join The innumerable caravan which moves To that mysterious realm where each shall take His chamber in the silent halls of death. Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night, Scourged by his dungeon; but, sustain'd and soothed By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave, Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

—William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878)
